📋 Description

• Develop, implement, and coordinate organizational risk management activities • Identify, evaluate, and treat actual and potential exposures to loss • Support the incident reporting system and evaluate trends and patterns in care and services • Work with medical, clinical, and administrative staff to reduce patient harm risk • Evaluate organizational risk using internal assessment and external benchmarking • Implement patient safety, loss prevention, risk management policies, and practices • Review patient harm events and significant deviations from standard procedures • Analyze adverse event and claims data to identify high-risk activities, procedures, and departments • Compile hospital-wide risk statistics and create reports and graphic presentations • Investigate adverse outcomes and events, including interviewing staff and reviewing medical records • Lead safety event huddles, adverse event reviews, root cause analyses, and causal analyses • Design solutions with clinical and administrative leaders to prevent future events • Support the Patient Care Assessment Program and its committee • Advise hospital staff, departments, and committees on clinical, regulatory, legal, insurance, risk, and ethical issues • Assist with developing policies and procedures reflecting risk management principles • Conduct risk management orientation and continuing education programs • Coordinate resolution of patient and family complaints and grievances • Collaborate with General Counsel, Claims departments, outside counsel, and oversight agencies • Integrate risk management information into credentialing and reappointment processes • Provide after-hours, weekend, and holiday risk management services through a rotating on-call schedule • Submit regulatory reports and corrective action plans as required • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, hospital policies, accrediting standards, Compliance standards, and HIPPA Programs

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Regulatory Affairs, Compliance, Nursing, Healthcare Administration or related field • Five (5) years of clinical experience or risk management experience • Master’s Degree preferred • Professional Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) preferred • Seven (7) years of clinical experience or risk management experience preferred • Ability to listen, analyze, gather relevant information, and use knowledge effectively to solve problems • Ability to present information understandably in formal and informal settings • Ability to manage multiple priorities • Knowledge of the continuous improvement process and ability to apply it when appropriate • Ability to provide solutions to problems • Ability to recognize safety issues and ensure appropriate follow-through • Ability to set and accomplish goals • Ability to prioritize and multitask an ongoing caseload of safety events, grievances, and regulatory reports, including on-call consults • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required by the rotating on-call schedule
