• Perform routine and targeted Resident Trust audits in PCC and RFMS across skilled nursing and other applicable communities • Review Resident Trust bank activity, resident ledgers, deposits, withdrawals, checks, cash transactions, shopping activity, receipts, supporting documentation, and reconciliations • Trace Resident Trust transactions from authorization through disbursement and final documentation • Audit withdrawal documentation and checks for authorization, signatures, witnesses, receipts, acknowledgments, supporting documentation, unusual payees, and other exceptions • Review deposits for timely and accurate recording to resident accounts • Audit bank reconciliations, resident-level balances, cash-box reconciliations, and other resident-fund safeguards • Monitor discharged and deceased resident accounts for timely resolution and refund of remaining balances • Review high resident balances and activity that may create Medicaid/resource-limit or compliance concerns • Perform analytical reviews to identify unusual or higher-risk transaction patterns • Maintain audit workpapers and supporting documentation • Document audit exceptions and communicate findings to facility, regional, and corporate leadership • Request additional documentation or expanded testing when needed • Escalate significant discrepancies, suspected misuse of resident funds, repeated control failures, and compliance concerns • Track corrective actions through resolution • Assist with Resident Trust audit tools, forms, controls, policies, procedures, and best practices • Provide education and guidance to Business Office and facility personnel • Partner with Revenue Cycle leadership, facility operations, Compliance, Finance, and other departments during investigations and corrective-action reviews • Serve as backup auditor for PCC revenue and financial reporting audits, revenue validation, account and payer reviews, and other internal Revenue Cycle compliance reviews • Assist with cost report audit preparation and supporting documentation • Assist with Medicaid, Medicare, Managed Care, commercial insurance, and other payer audit requests • Assist with regulatory, financial, external auditor, ownership-transition, and other documentation or validation requests • Perform special audits, investigations, data validation, and Revenue Cycle projects assigned by the Director of Revenue Cycle Management • Maintain confidentiality of resident, financial, employee, and proprietary company information
• High school diploma or equivalent is required • Experience in skilled nursing, long-term care, healthcare Revenue Cycle, Business Office operations, accounting, auditing, or compliance is ideal • Strong analytical skills and ability to review detailed financial transactions, identify discrepancies, trace activity between multiple records or systems, and distinguish documentation errors from issues requiring further investigation • Strong written communication, organization, attention to detail, independent judgment, and follow-through • Ability to identify and communicate compliance concerns objectively and factually • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel • Ability to learn and work within multiple financial and healthcare information systems • Experience with PointClickCare (PCC) and/or RFMS Resident Trust is strongly preferred • Experience with Resident Trust, resident funds, SNF Business Office operations, Medicaid, Medicare, insurance billing, healthcare financial audits, or Revenue Cycle compliance is preferred • Prior audit, accounting, reconciliation, fraud-prevention, financial investigation, or internal-control experience is highly desirable • Knowledge of skilled nursing facility reimbursement and regulatory requirements is beneficial
