• Conduct detailed forensic investigations involving structural failures, building damage, construction deficiencies, code-related issues, and causation analyses for residential, commercial, and industrial properties. • Perform on-site inspections to evaluate structural conditions, document observations, collect data, take measurements, and preserve evidence relevant to engineering assessments. • Analyze structural systems utilizing engineering principles, applicable building codes, industry standards, construction documents, and supporting technical data. • Determine the cause, origin, extent, and responsibility of structural failures, property damage, and construction-related defects. • Prepare clear, thorough, and defensible engineering reports, including findings, opinions, conclusions, repair recommendations, and supporting documentation. • Collaborate with clients, attorneys, insurance carriers, contractors, architects, and other stakeholders throughout the investigation and reporting process. • Provide technical consultation and expert opinions during litigation, mediation, arbitration, or insurance claim proceedings. • Deliver deposition and expert witness testimony when required and support legal teams with technical analysis and case preparation. • Manage multiple assignments while maintaining project schedules, budgets, and high-quality deliverables. • Stay current with evolving building codes, engineering standards, forensic methodologies, and industry best practices. • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required; ability to obtain licensure in additional states as needed. • Structural engineering experience, with forensic engineering, failure analysis, property loss investigations, or construction defect investigations preferred. • Strong knowledge of structural systems, building materials, construction methods, and applicable building codes and standards. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate complex technical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences. • Proven technical writing skills with experience preparing detailed forensic engineering reports and defensible conclusions. • Ability to independently manage multiple projects, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. • Experience interacting with attorneys, insurance carriers, property owners, contractors, and other project stakeholders preferred. • Prior litigation support, deposition, arbitration, mediation, or expert witness testimony experience preferred. • Willingness and ability to travel regionally for site inspections and client meetings.
