📋 Description

• Secure patient accounts financially for endoscopy and hospital procedures and office visits • Verify and thoroughly document insurance benefits using Greenway and Authorization Worklist • Manage referrals and authorizations, including completing an average of 23+ verifications per day • Monitor pending accounts and notify office and managerial staff about required postponements or cancellations • Maintain an error rate below 2% of total volume worked for the previous two quarters • Answer the internal Financial Counselor phone line and assist employees with verification and billing issues • Verify benefits for office visits and manage referrals and authorizations at least three days before the date of service • Establish payment plans for self-pay patients and patients with large outstanding balances or deposits • Assist with patient voicemail, document imports, and patient portal tasks • Complete special verification assignments and calculate and notify patients of payments, balances, and deposits due • Collect, record, and update patient demographic and insurance information • Counsel patients and relatives regarding payment for medical treatment or procedures • Complete information requests from United Digestive staff • Maintain HIPAA compliance and strict confidentiality of patient information • Participate in staff meetings and marketing activities as directed • Complete other duties and special projects as assigned • Report to the Financial Counselor Manager

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required • 3-5 years of insurance verification, prior authorization, and precertification experience in a medical setting • Gastroenterology experience preferred • Computer literacy • Ability to type 40 words per minute • Ability to operate practice and Microsoft Office applications • Excellent verbal and written skills • Attention to detail • Ability to assist patients, visitors, co-workers, and physicians with courtesy and respect • Professional, outgoing, warm, and helpful attitude • Compassion when assisting people who are ill and need help • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete multiple tasks • Ability to work under pressure and communicate issues in a timely manner • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally via telephone, email, and/or in-person correspondence • Ability to interpret and apply clinical and non-clinical best practices • Must pass a pre-employment drug screening
