📋 Description

• Own the strategy and roadmap for streamlining the decisioning and verification experience • Translate risk, capital, compliance, and borrower-experience needs into priorities, requirements, and launch plans • Collaborate with Capital, Compliance, Risk, and ML on expanding underwriting guidelines • Lead delivery of expanded borrower segments • Define and evolve backend logic for underwriting and decisioning • Balance decisioning accuracy, borrower friction, data usage, and risk uncertainty • Increase automation and instant approvals in the HELOC underwriting process • Leverage new data sources and machine learning, including LLMs, to reduce manual work while improving speed and quality • Optimize conversion, operational efficiency, and portfolio quality for Upstart’s HELOC business

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of product management experience on fast-moving, customer-obsessed teams • Ability to drive business outcomes using quantitative metrics and qualitative insight • Pragmatic approach to data and comfort making decisions with imperfect information • Well-calibrated risk judgment • Strong product sense and experience authoring and executing multi-quarter roadmaps • Rigorous, analytical problem-solving ability • Clear, concise, and persuasive communication skills • Ownership and growth mindset • Strong communication and collaboration skills for cross-functional partnership • Preferred: experience designing complex backend systems that drive direct business results • Preferred: experience partnering closely with Machine Learning teams • Ability to work on East/West Coast time zones • Ability to work remotely in the United States or Canada; Upstart is not currently able to hire in Quebec
