• Research complex coding issues and recommend resolutions • Identify training needs and develop coding education processes • Design and update coding lessons, projects, and assessments for USACS and vendor coders • Deliver engaging instruction through coding and learning platforms in virtual or in-person classrooms • Monitor learner progress, provide feedback, and support learners individually or in groups • Measure student performance, analyze assessment data, and report findings • Participate in external training programs and present materials to attract candidates to the internal coding team • Create and maintain coding resources, SOPs, and site pages • Research inpatient and specialty medicine coding topics, develop problem statements and recommendations, and present education or continuous-improvement updates • Collaborate with RCM internal teams to ensure coding processes, guidelines, and policies are accurately applied • Provide educational consultations to internal Coding Department staff • Assist with QA webinars, quarterly coding meetings, and vendor calibration calls • Analyze audit results, identify root causes, launch targeted education, and monitor results for improvement • Perform other department duties as needed
• High school diploma or equivalent • RHIT, RN, CPC, or CCS-P accreditation • Inpatient Medicine pro-fee coding experience • Knowledge and experience using ICD-10-CM and CPT coding, specifically Inpatient Medicine • Knowledge of Inpatient Medicine payor and coding guidelines • Proficiency using Windows computers, especially Excel, Word, Adobe, PowerPoint, and Zoom • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and maintain attention to detail • Ability to identify, research, and solve problems and discrepancies • Professional communication with employees, management, physicians, and vendors • Ability to maintain confidentiality • Strong organizational skills
