📋 Description

• Pilot high-end drone systems for aerial inspections of transmission line structures and other applications • Serve as Pilot in Command with ultimate responsibility for safe flight operations in the field • Document environmental conditions and known hazards • Coordinate with the project manager or Valmont personnel on aircraft deconfliction notice filings with customers and the FAA • Communicate throughout flights with the camera operator and visual observer • Respond immediately to drone issues • Monitor surroundings and known hazards during flight operations • Examine drones, props, controllers, monitors and batteries before each flight • Clean and safely store equipment at the end of each day • Maintain daily crew flight and inspection activity logs • Execute safety protocols, complete Task Hazard Analysis forms, implement Emergency Action Plans and secure flight areas • Perform routine maintenance checks and identify equipment requiring repair or replacement • Assist with filing, inventory checks, equipment maintenance, cleaning and administrative tasks • Report to the Principal Pilot; no direct or indirect reports

🎯 Requirements

• Preferred bachelor’s or associate’s degree and/or 20 logged and verifiable sUAS flight hours • FAA Part 107 Certification required • Pass a drug screening test • Ability to travel up to 95% • Valid driver’s license • Familiarity with drone platforms of various sizes and ability to learn Valmont platforms • Must hold or be able to obtain OSHA-30 Certification and First Aid/CPR certification • Comfortable working outdoors in remote environments in hot and cold weather • Basic computer skills, including file transfer and organization • Familiarity with the Windows platform • Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a larger pilot, camera operator, visual observer and inspector team • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills • Ability to multitask effectively • Experience with energized utility lines and aerial structures, RTK drone technology, and 3D mapping/modeling are highly qualified qualifications
