📋 Description

• Own complex projects from problem definition and technical design through implementation, rollout, and operation • Design and evolve backend systems, APIs, and data models used to run Tests and process results • Improve the reliability, correctness, performance, and observability of the Tests runtime • Investigate complex production issues, identify root causes, and build durable solutions • Simplify existing systems and improve abstractions and interfaces for other engineers • Collaborate with engineers across Vanta on problems spanning systems and team boundaries • Provide feedback in design and code reviews and communicate technical tradeoffs • Mentor engineers and contribute to the team’s engineering culture

🎯 Requirements

• Strong experience building and operating reliable, scalable backend systems in production • Independently delivered complex technical projects where the problem or solution was not always well defined • Strong systems thinking and fundamentals in backend system design, APIs, and data modeling • Strong debugging skills across correctness, reliability, performance, and scalability • Ability to make effective technical tradeoffs and take ownership of production systems • Ability to communicate technical decisions clearly and collaborate effectively across teams • Experience with TypeScript, GraphQL, MongoDB, and observability tools such as Datadog is a plus • Open to using AI to amplify skills and strengthen work • Legally authorized to work in the location where this role is based
