📋 Description

• Practice acute care surgery in austere and limited resource environments • Work with a small team to perform examinations, make diagnoses, and treat or prescribe courses of treatment and surgery, including damage control surgery • Provide consultation and advice as the surgical subject matter expert • Perform required surgery • Conduct and supervise direct patient care, including surgical critical care and damage control surgical interventions • Supervise nursing and support personnel during resuscitation, perioperative, and post-operative phases of care • Document care provided and complete medical records according to VIGILINT policy • Plan and may conduct Critical Care Air Transport missions for ICU-level patients • Function in a leadership position based on qualifications and experience • Perform special staff functions as required • Perform medical training and instruction as requested • Support Mobile Surgical Resuscitation Team activities • Be available for at least one approximately 60-day OCONUS rotation annually, plus additional training and screening events

🎯 Requirements

• Active SECRET or higher security clearance • Current and unrestricted license to practice medicine in the United States or U.S. Territory • Current Board Certification through the American Board of Surgery or American Osteopathic Board of Surgery • Current/active civilian practice to maintain clinical currency during non-deployed periods • Minimum five (5) years' experience as staff or attending Surgeon in a high volume/high acuity or critical access environment • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree from an accredited U.S. school of medicine or osteopathy • Minimum eight (8) years' experience as a Surgeon • Minimum of five (5) years U.S. Military or Government Sponsored experience • U.S. Military or Government Sponsored deployment within the last 3 years in an austere environment and combat-like conditions • Experience shall include deployment in austere and combat-like conditions in Role 1, 2, or 3 facilities • United States citizen • Current ACLS, PALS, & BLS training through American Heart Association or Red Cross • Current and unrestricted DEA license • Current United States Passport that will not expire within 1-year of employment • Ability to lift 150 pounds with assistance; carry 80 pounds a distance of 30 feet and push/pull over 200 pounds • Must meet the anthropometric standards of assigned platform • Must be a legal resident of one of the 50 U.S. states; residency in a U.S. territory does not meet this requirement • Successful candidates may be invited for an in-person assessment process
