📋 Description

• Process assigned Release of Information requests and medical records accurately, efficiently, and within required turnaround times • Primarily handle Continuing Care and Disability Determination Services requests, with cross-training on additional request types as needed • Access requests and medical records according to client-specific procedures and security protocols • Validate requests and signed patient authorizations for HIPAA and statutory compliance • Classify request types and log requests in ROI software • Retrieve and upload requested portions of electronic or physical patient charts • Perform quality-control checks to ensure accurate releases and prevent Protected Health Information breaches • Check and adjust invoices as needed; create invoices and billing materials for clients • Release records to valid requesting entities and reject invalid or non-compliant requests • Return physically retrieved records to their proper repository locations • Document exceptions, communications, and relevant request information in ROI software • Respond to requestor inquiries professionally and efficiently • Escalate questionable requests, suspected breaches, delays, connectivity problems, equipment malfunctions, and security risks to supervisors • Maintain confidentiality, security, ethical standards, and compliance with VRC, healthcare facility, HIPAA, federal/state, and labor regulations • Keep client information details up to date • Support additional facilities or request types during backlogs • Complete required training and perform other assigned duties

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma (GED) required; degree preferred • Prior experience with Release of Information fulfillment preferred • Demonstrated attention to detail • Ability to prioritize, organize, and meet deadlines • Demonstrated documentation and communication skills • Ability to maintain productivity and quality performance • Basic knowledge of medical records and HIPAA preferred • Prior experience with EHR/EMR platforms preferred • Prior experience with Windows and Microsoft Office products • Strong computer and Microsoft Office skills • Experience operating printers, computers, fax machines, scanners, microfilm reader/printers, and similar equipment preferred • Detailed oriented, self-motivated, and able to stay focused for extended periods • Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English • Bilingual skills desirable
