📋 Description

• Build Vulcury Venture Studio's media presence across Southern California • Pitch journalists, secure earned media coverage, and build lasting press relationships • Map regional journalists covering real estate, startups, consumer, and education • Write targeted pitch emails and follow up directly with reporters • Draft press releases and media briefs • Maintain the press contact database and track coverage • Identify real estate, proptech, and edtech trade publications • Pitch contributed articles and expert commentary • Track editorial calendars and deadlines • Monitor California startup, real estate, and innovation awards and lists • Draft award submissions and maintain the pipeline • Turn earned coverage and leadership insights into LinkedIn and X posts • Track social media performance and propose improvements • Support national campaigns across Vulcury's portfolio • Work directly with company leadership

🎯 Requirements

• Must be based in Southern California • Must be authorized to work in the US • Hands-on media relations experience, including pitching journalists directly • At least one earned media placement secured or directly contributed to • Sharp, persuasive, well-structured writing • Availability for 15–20 hours/week for the full 12 weeks • Starting immediately • Submit one pitch email sent to a journalist and a link to the resulting coverage or a note on the outcome • Existing contacts in Los Angeles or Orange County business, real estate, or tech media (nice to have) • Experience with Cision, Muck Rack, Meltwater, or a PR CRM (nice to have) • Interest in real estate, consumer brands, education, or venture building (nice to have) • Experience limited to owned channels or newsroom reporting does not meet the core requirement on its own
