📋 Description

• Serve as Whitefox's technical authority for projects from FEL1 through commissioning and the O&M contract • Own the quality of engineering delivered by the execution partner and the technical relationship with that partner • Act as the client's technical counterpart for the Whitefox system • Drive technical solution development, systems design and deliverable review while keeping the Project Manager involved • Chair technical reviews, set the agenda for technical progress and escalate partner capability or resourcing risks • Review and accept PFDs with heat and material balances, P&IDs, equipment design, sizing and selection, 3D models and equipment layout, and control narratives against Whitefox design criteria • Hold quality-control gates and record deviations with technical rationale • Own the technical accuracy of the partner's IFC package • Own Whitefox equipment sizing and selection, basis of design and CORE control narratives • Co-responsibly execute commissioning and start-up with Customer Support • Flag technical impacts of changes on cost and schedule to Project Management • Drive installed systems to offered benefits and performance after commissioning and quantify results • Support troubleshooting of live operations against contractual obligations • Own health and safety considerations in engineering design, including hazard identification, safe operating limits, HAZOP participation and closeout of design safety actions • Identify design modifications, improvements and optimisations from lessons learned and field feedback • Provide on-the-job training and coaching to Execution Engineers and POD peers • Help develop simulation templates, tools, design criteria and training materials • Feed partner and field learnings back to the Head of Execution Engineering • Represent Whitefox values, standards and safety culture to customers and external stakeholders during site visits and support activities

🎯 Requirements

• Degree in chemical or process engineering, or an equivalent discipline • Eight or more years in process engineering on industrial plant, including work through detailed design into the field • Hands-on production of, or accountable review of, PFDs with heat and material balances, P&IDs, equipment design, sizing and selection, 3D models and equipment layout, control narratives, programming guidelines and SOPs • Working command of a commercial process simulator • Experience of commissioning and start-up on site, including troubleshooting under time and client pressure • Technical depth in post-commissioning and O&M • Working knowledge of process safety in design, including hazard identification, HAZOP, safe operating limits and closing design safety actions • Experience of formal change control on an operating plant or in a project environment • Experience delivering engineering through third-party EPC or engineering contractors • Separation or membrane process experience, or a demonstrable track record of getting to depth quickly in an unfamiliar unit operation • Fluency in reading contractual performance guarantees and translating them into operating limits and test conditions • Experience in ethanol, biofuels, distillation or dehydration plant is desirable • Experience with evaporation is desirable • Exposure to plant control systems and programming guidelines or FAT processes is desirable • Experience writing design criteria documents or engineering standards for external use is desirable • Experience mentoring or line-managing junior engineers is desirable • Ability to influence technical decisions without positional authority • Strong externally facing relationship and stakeholder skills • Clear written communication • Ability to work in a cross-functional POD • Sound escalation and judgement skills • Ability to teach and coach others • Ability to remain steady under commissioning conditions • Standard US full-time hours (40 hrs/week) • Willingness to travel within the USA approximately 30%
