📋 Description

• Engage online communities and help refine Wikimedia's brand voice • Build a vibrant, Gen Z-focused social media presence for Wikipedia and the Wikimedia Foundation • Write daily social copy, manage comment sections, and execute reactive engagement on trending moments • Support development and documentation of community management playbooks and brand tone-of-voice guidelines • Identify, surface, and share stories from Wikipedia's global volunteer community • Track short-form video trends, platform updates, and emerging formats • Recommend fresh engagement opportunities • Test social listening and moderation tools to improve community response time • Monitor channel activity and audience sentiment • Assist with monthly performance reporting • Participate in creative experimentation to identify effective copy and engagement styles • Collaborate with distributed teams across time zones

🎯 Requirements

• 1–3 years of hands-on experience in social media execution, community management, or digital storytelling • Active familiarity with TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts • Experience writing social copy, engaging in comment sections, or moderating online channels • Exposure to social management, analytics, or listening tools • High emotional intelligence to navigate sensitive comments and know when to escalate risks • Awareness of cross-cultural nuances and working with diverse global audiences • Passion for the Wikimedia mission and free knowledge • Flexibility working with distributed teams across time zones • Current work authorization in the applicant's location for non-US employees • US-based applicants are part of the Communication Workers of America bargaining unit
