• Supervises hospital or professional coding staff • Assists the management team in day-to-day operations of the department • Implements ongoing medical coding/abstracting, auditing, monitoring, and educational activities • Ensures compliance with federal and state coding healthcare rules and regulations • Responsible for personnel management of coding staff • Develops and maintains coding related policies, procedures, and training materials • Conducts and/or oversees internal and external auditing for compliance
• High School Diploma or Equivalent • Current HIM/Coding Certification through AHIMA or AAPC • Five (5) years of medical coding experience • Associates degree or higher in Health Information Management or related field (preferred) • Previous clinical experience, as an RN, LPN or Medical Assistant (preferred) • Extensive experience in ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and MS-DRG, HCC and APR-DRG assignment (preferred) • Previous supervisory or project management experience (preferred) • Seven (7) years of medical coding experience preferred.
