📋 Description

• Review and screen credential applications and supporting documentation using practical mariner expertise • Evaluate basic-level professional qualifications and identify missing or inconsistent information • Technically assess maritime training course submissions and prepare draft responses • Maintain accurate case records and coordinate findings for consistent, timely evaluations • Screen, evaluate, and process Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC) applications • Support safety and suitability evaluation workflows within assigned authority and established NMC procedures • Review maritime training course approval requests for regulatory conformity and draft clear, accurate responses • Coordinate with NMC personnel and maintain complete evaluation documentation • Meet established quality and turnaround expectations

🎯 Requirements

• Hold or have held a U.S. Coast Guard-issued MMC endorsed as Master of Self-Propelled Vessels of Not Less Than 100 Gross Registered Tons (GRT) upon Great Lakes and Inland Waters (or superior routes) • Possess proficiency as a Level III Professional Qualification Evaluator • Level III proficiency verified through documented experience reviewing units of work with a demonstrated error rate of less than 9% • Successful completion of Level I, Level II, and Level III training courses provided by the Government • Experience reviewing merchant mariner credential applications or maritime training documentation is beneficial • Familiarity with U.S. Coast Guard merchant mariner credentialing regulations and documentation is beneficial • Must meet Public Trust requirements
