Youth Law Center is a nonprofit legal advocacy organization that uses the law to protect and enforce the rights of children and youth, particularly those involved in foster care and the juvenile justice system. It pursues systemic reform through litigation, policy advocacy, and resources to improve safety, prioritize families and communities, and support successful transitions to adulthood. The organization also provides research, reports, and tools to power advocates and mobilize public support for youth-centered policy change.

📋 Description

• Prepare and issue monthly invoices for recurring contracts according to contract terms • Reconcile monthly accounts receivable activity, including invoices, payments, and outstanding balances • Download, code, and enter corporate credit card transactions into Quickbooks • Audit credit card documentation for receipts and business purposes • Serve as primary contact for employee expense reimbursements • Review reimbursement requests for completeness, accuracy, and supporting documentation • Manage recurring monthly vendor invoices and upload statements into BILL • Liaise with vendors to obtain documentation, resolve discrepancies, and answer questions • Enter staff hours into State Bar grant reporting worksheets • Maintain grant support documentation and assist with financial compliance reporting • Coordinate annual audit schedules and organize auditor requests seasonally • Download, categorize, and maintain audit sample documentation seasonally • Maintain and organize finance and other records according to retention policies • Assist with special projects, month-end close activities, and other finance-related duties • Prepare recurring financial schedules and reconciliations for month-end close and grant reporting • Assist with finance operations and administrative process documentation • Perform other responsibilities as needed and assigned

🎯 Requirements

• At least two years of accounting or finance support experience • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or equivalent work experience • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel • High level of organization and attention to detail • Experience working with confidential financial information • Effective prioritization skills and flexibility to respond to changing circumstances and business needs • Ability to work effectively with staff, vendors, and partners from varied backgrounds and identities • Proficiency in spoken and written English • Alignment with YLC’s social justice commitment and mission • Current U.S. work authorization and preparedness to work from home • Availability to travel infrequently, up to twice annually • Prior nonprofit accounting experience desirable • Grant administration or grant reporting experience desirable • Experience with BILL, Quickbooks, Google Workspace, and electronic signature platforms such as SignNow or Docusign desirable • Experience supporting audits desirable • Experience with recurring contract billing desirable • Cover letter and up-to-date resume required
