• Own Ziply Fiber's enterprise IPAM architecture, including tooling selection, IPv4/IPv6 address planning, allocation policy, and lifecycle management • Define IPv4 conservation strategy and plan for IPv4 exhaustion in dual-stack and IPv6-only transition contexts • Architect IPv6 address plans, allocation hierarchies, and delegation policies • Own RPKI/ROA deployment and BGP route validation policy • Maintain authoritative IP registry documentation and integrations with provisioning, DNS, and network management systems • Define and execute public/private peering strategy, Internet Exchange presence, and route optimization • Own transit provider architecture, diversity standards, failover policy, and commercial alignment • Manage peering relationships, technical onboarding, LOAs, route objects, and relationship health • Analyze traffic matrices and peering economics to identify opportunities, optimize routing, and reduce transit spend • Coordinate BGP policy implementation and route propagation standards with IP Core and Metro architecture • Design and own content caching strategy, including embedded cache placement for major CDN partners • Define cache node placement criteria and co-location requirements • Manage CDN partner integrations, cache monitoring, and capacity scaling agreements • Analyze CDN traffic reports and cache efficiency metrics to optimize placement and configuration • Coordinate caching infrastructure with Network Planning and IP Core capacity models • Set technical standards, govern architecture, mentor engineers, and drive cross-functional architecture decisions without direct people-management responsibility • Communicate complex networking and Internet-performance concepts to executive, technical, operational, vendor, and non-technical audiences • Perform other duties as required to support the business and evolving organization
• High school diploma or GED • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Telecommunications, Network Engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience • 10+ years of IP network engineering experience at an ISP or broadband operator • Direct ownership of IPAM, peering, and/or content caching programs • Senior independent-contributor experience setting technical standards, influencing architecture, mentoring engineers, and driving cross-functional decisions • Expert-level BGP knowledge, including peering policy, community design, route filtering, RPKI/ROA, and traffic engineering at IX scale • Hands-on experience with NetBox, Infoblox, or equivalent IPAM platforms • Experience designing IPv4/IPv6 address plans and integrating IPAM with network management systems • Experience developing IPAM governance, allocation standards, reclamation workflows, data-quality controls, and operational reporting • Deep understanding of CDN caching architectures and major CDN embedded-cache programs • Strong knowledge of IX operations, IRR/ARIN route-object management, LOA workflows, and peering economics • Experience with RPKI/ROA deployment and BGP route-origin validation • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to executive, technical, operational, vendor, and non-technical audiences • Currently authorized to work in the US for any employer; sponsorship is not available • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, multitask, collaborate, meet critical deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities • Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, analytical, and systems-thinking skills • Executive presence and ability to explain IPAM, peering, transit, routing-security, CDN caching, and Internet-performance decisions • JNCIE-SP, CCIE-SP, or equivalent certification preferred • Experience with RIPE STAT, PeeringDB, IX traffic analytics, DNS anycast, transit-cost optimization, and executive presentations preferred • Must pass a pre-employment background check • Must meet physical requirements including prolonged sitting/standing, occasional lifting up to 25 pounds, and specified vision abilities
