• Create and revise design drawings for high-voltage transmission and distribution substations, including site plans, foundation plans and details, and structural steel plans and fabrication details • Perform civil/structural design for high-voltage substation engineering projects • Conduct peer reviews of other designers’ drawings • Maintain archived, current, and working drawing revisions • Update drawings to reflect field as-built conditions • Teach and mentor young designers and/or new employees on civil/structural design and company practices • Participate in developing and reviewing company standards and design tools to optimize design applications • Provide project and office support as required • Travel occasionally to field sites or work at a client’s office as required
• 5+ years’ experience designing transmission-level substations from 13.8 kV to 500 kV • Experience with site plans, foundation plans and details, and structural steel plans and fabrication details • Good written and verbal communication skills • Ability to work well with others in a team setting • Skilled in problem-solving in time-sensitive situations • Advanced AutoCAD 2015 or later required • Advanced/intermediate MicroStation preferred • Intermediate Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook • Ability to lift/move equipment up to 15 lbs • Occasional travel to field sites or a client’s office may be required • Associates Degree in Civil Engineering/Technology preferred, but not required
