📋 Description

• Lead the development and refinement of systems powering payments compliance. • Design and build service-oriented, configurable, auditable Compliance systems that leverage existing Airbnb capabilities. • Collaborate with Product, Design, Policy, Operations, and other cross-functional partners to define and ship impactful features. • Partner with other engineering teams to serve users holistically. • Establish technical vision and alignment across engineering and cross-functional teams. • Lead and mentor engineers inside and outside the immediate team. • Advance Airbnb engineering processes and technical foundations. • Drive systemic improvements to streamline development, reduce toil, and increase technical quality and operational excellence. • Build compliance experiences for hosts and guests, including required information collection and management. • Develop systems for screening individuals and businesses against global regulatory requirements. • Implement continuous auditing to verify compliance controls are applied as intended.

🎯 Requirements

• 9+ years of industry experience in a fast-paced technology environment • BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent work experience • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across engineering teams • Strong problem-solving skills • Experience leading a team on call for production systems • Hands-on experience leading project teams and setting technical direction and strategy • Proficiency in one or more back-end server languages, such as Java, Ruby, Go, or C++ • Experience with HTML, CSS, and modern JavaScript frameworks such as React • Exposure to architectural patterns for high-scale web and data applications • Prior regulatory compliance standards knowledge and experience implementing controls (nice to have) • Future-looking approach to building for long-term regulatory needs • End-to-end ownership mentality across team boundaries
