📋 Description

• Build the backend services that AZX products and client solutions run on • Own the LLM gateway, including routing, metering, budgets, guardrail composition, and provider/backend adapters • Manage the retrieval and knowledge service, including connectors, chunking, hybrid search, reranking, grounded answers, and the MCP surface • Build the evaluation harness for retrieval tuning, confidence intervals, and per-segment breakdowns • Own the async framework, including its public API, rate-limit algorithms, and admin tooling • Lead the evolution of the async framework into durable execution for agent runs • Design authorization across the platform, including token hierarchies, capability grammars, and per-tenant isolation • Define completion standards for shipped work through evaluations, traces, cost accounting, and monitoring dashboards • Support client-facing engineers delivering client outcomes with the platform

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of deep, production async Python • Production experience with cancellation scopes, streaming lifecycle, and connection pooling • Strong PostgreSQL knowledge, including MVCC, advisory locks, and vacuum discipline • Experience with Redis/Dragonfly and distributed systems • Experience shipping API surfaces, including versioning, idempotency, error vocabularies, migration discipline, and documentation • Depth in at least one LLM gateway concern or retrieval engineering, with credibility on the other • Experience shipping evaluation gates or harnesses that caught real regressions • Production depth in a modern technology stack and ability to ramp quickly on unfamiliar tools • Familiarity with Python 3.12+, async, type-strict development, FastAPI/Starlette, Pydantic v2, asyncpg/SQLAlchemy, PostgreSQL including pgvector, and Redis/Dragonfly with Lua • Exposure to OpenTelemetry including GenAI conventions, SSE/streaming lifecycles, OpenAI/Anthropic provider APIs, job frameworks, rate-limit algorithms, and integer-cents money handling • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis • Must be willing to travel to the Seattle area for the final interview • Past work in energy, real estate, utilities, climate, or related fields is a plus • Experience in both startup and enterprise environments is a plus
