• Review and evaluate submissions for acceptability against multiple company guidelines • Negotiate coverage terms and requirements • Issue quotes and bind policies accurately and promptly • Gather and maintain complete, organized underwriting files • Assess risks within established authority • Ensure compliance with carrier guidelines, state regulations, and surplus lines requirements • Build relationships with agents, internal teams, carriers, and external partners to identify profitable growth opportunities • Achieve individual and team production goals by developing a profitable book of business and growing policies in force and premium • Communicate clearly and concisely with stakeholders in writing and verbally • Research agency, carrier, and market data to support decision-making • Address inquiries within established service level standards • Advise agencies on carriers and products within the specialty and connect agents with appropriate resources for opportunities outside the specialty
• Active P&C and Surplus Lines licenses, or ability to obtain within 45 days • Ability to identify, evaluate, analyze, and recommend solutions to insurance needs • Understanding of and adherence to state-specific underwriting statutes, insurance laws, and regulations • Verbal and written communication skills for interacting, influencing, and negotiating with business partners • Ability to learn job-related software • Proficiency in product acuity, functional/technical skills, command and consultation, negotiating, consulting, problem solving, handling and measuring work, and decision quality • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations • 2+ years of related insurance experience preferred • Undergraduate degree may be considered in lieu of experience • Undergraduate studies in business, risk management, or a related field preferred • Commercial Lines insurance experience preferred • Professional designations such as CIC, CPCU, or equivalent preferred
