📋 Description

• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning, including cash-flow, cost, and scenario modeling • Partner with program and department leaders on budget ownership, forecasting, and financial decisions • Prepare and present monthly and annual financial statements, budget-to-actual analyses, cash-flow plans, dashboards, and Board materials • Oversee the externally managed investment portfolio, including advisor coordination, performance, liquidity, fees, compliance, withdrawals, and reporting • Advise the CEO, Leadership Team, Finance Committee, and Board on critical financial matters • Oversee accounting and administration of SAFE agreements and other direct or mission-related investments • Identify revenue gaps and new program costs to inform fundraising strategy • Support business development and earned-revenue strategies • Oversee monthly close, balance-sheet reconciliations, payroll approval, journal entries, revenue, and accounting functions • Lead the annual audit and oversee Form 990 preparation and other compliance requirements • Establish and strengthen internal controls, finance policies, approval workflows, contracts, financial systems, banking, insurance, and compliance processes • Lead financial tracking and management of grants, grant budgets, grant reports, restricted funding, donor reporting, and revenue forecasting • Own and oversee the fiscal sponsorship program throughout its lifecycle • Supervise and support the Controller, including goals, priorities, coaching, feedback, workload management, and professional development • Manage external vendors and consultants and build a collaborative, organized Finance team culture

🎯 Requirements

• Significant experience leading nonprofit finance • Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow planning, financial reporting, audits, Form 990, internal controls, and regulatory compliance • Experience supporting executive leadership, Boards, and Board committees • Experience supervising staff and managing external vendors, consultants, and professional service providers • Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities across functions • Experience building or improving systems, workflows, documentation, and internal controls • Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance audiences • Working knowledge of payroll and benefits-related finance and familiarity with HR and people-operations compliance • Comfort working in a small, entrepreneurial nonprofit environment • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in accounting, finance, or a related field • Demonstrated proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Airbase, Rippling, Employee Navigator, Fathom, and Google Workspace • CPA or MBA preferred • Preferred experience with nonprofit investment portfolios, SAFE agreements or venture investments, fiscal sponsorship programs, organizational change, remote teams, and racial equity, education, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, or social impact organizations
