📋 Description

• Assess and render decisions on Special Authorization requests according to established guidelines for requested drugs and accepted medical conditions • Determine appropriate system entry and correspondence information to be recorded • Enter Special Authorization request information into Alberta Blue Cross computer systems to facilitate appropriate claims adjudication • Prepare correspondence advising prescribers and subscribers of Special Authorization decisions • Handle electronic and telephone inquiries from internal and external customers • Deliver exceptional Special Authorization service within established turnaround standards

🎯 Requirements

• Post-secondary education in the health services or medical field (e.g. Pharmacy Technician diploma, Medical Office Administration certificate/diploma), or directly related experience • Knowledge of medical terminology and familiarity with drug names • Pathophysiology would be an asset • Excellent analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills • Ability to manage time effectively and work with minimum supervision in a team environment • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail • Computer proficiency, particularly with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and preferably Access) • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Organizational skills • Ability to meet the challenges of heavy workloads and frequent change • Strong team player • Service-oriented and responsive to customers • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers • Ability to work occasional weekdays until 5:00 pm, weekends, and statutory holidays on a rotation basis • Satisfactory criminal record check required as a condition of employment following a conditional offer
