📋 Description

• Lead and develop engineering teams through coaching, feedback, performance management, and career development • Develop senior engineers, technical owners, and emerging leaders • Empower technical owners to prototype, validate solutions, make technical decisions, and drive initiatives from discovery through implementation • Hire, onboard, retain, and develop engineering talent • Partner on team structure, capacity planning, resource allocation, and talent development • Own execution and delivery across assigned engineering teams or a broader engineering area • Improve operating practices, planning, backlog readiness, delivery tracking, and blocker resolution • Identify and resolve cross-team dependencies and systemic delivery issues • Use streamlined workflows, automated reporting, and engineering and delivery metrics to improve execution • Communicate progress, risks, resource needs, and delivery outcomes to Engineering leadership and stakeholders • Provide technical leadership aligned with architecture, quality, reliability, and technical strategy • Evaluate technical approaches and guide architecture and technical decision-making • Maintain hands-on technical engagement to guide teams and make informed decisions • Drive improvements to engineering practices, architecture, tooling, and ways of working • Ensure operational ownership, sustainable on-call practices, staffing, and production accountability • Establish and use SLOs, error budgets, and reliability measures • Lead major incident coordination, decision-making, escalation, and stakeholder communication • Drive postmortems and track action items through closure • Partner with Product and cross-functional stakeholders on problem statements, business context, priorities, and success criteria • Champion AI-assisted development for solution exploration, planning, ticket creation, development, and workflows • Enable engineers to participate earlier in discovery, requirements, technical solutioning, and technical work definition • Identify opportunities for AI, automation, and improved engineering practices to increase productivity

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including hands-on experience in enterprise or SaaS environments • 4+ years of engineering management and/or people management experience • Experience leading multiple engineering teams or initiatives spanning multiple teams and stakeholders • Proven ownership of team execution and delivery, including planning, prioritization, dependency management, risk identification, and workflow improvement • Experience partnering with senior Engineering and Product leadership • Experience owning production services, including on-call, SLOs, incident response, and postmortems • Experience in collaborative Product and Engineering environments involving discovery, requirements definition, technical solutioning, and delivery • Strong technical judgment and ability to guide design decisions • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills • Experience with cloud platform management and architecture, preferably Azure • Strong Java/Kotlin development experience across backend services and microservices • Experience leveraging or leading teams using AI-assisted software development tools and workflows • Recent hands-on coding experience preferred • Kubernetes experience and container orchestration familiarity a plus • React framework experience a plus • Experience designing and implementing microservice architectures for distributed systems and reliability a plus • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience • Applicants must be US-based and legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future • Compliance with CData information classification, HIPAA-related safeguards where applicable, access-control, data-handling, and incident-reporting requirements
