📋 Description

• Develop and improve EEG and biosensing wearable firmware • Own firmware releases end to end, including scope, code freeze, QA and regression cycles, release notes, and inter-team communications • Maintain and extend shipping STM32 firmware while bringing up new platforms • Design and debug BLE protocols, throughput, latency, connection reliability, and field connection issues • Integrate Bluetooth audio codecs and I2S/PDM microphone and speaker paths alongside continuous sensor streaming • Implement biosignal acquisition for EEG, PPG, and fNIRS front ends, including sensor presets, on-device filtering, stream formats, and telemetry • Configure PMICs, fuel gauging, low-power and sleep modes, and battery-life improvements • Perform field debugging across firmware, hardware, and app layers using logs, RTT capture, crash reporting, and product analytics • Develop manufacturing and factory-test firmware, flashing flows, test-time reductions, and internal tooling • Bring up new hardware, peripherals, PMICs, batteries, and sensors using datasheets, schematics, and measurements • Collaborate with mobile app, cloud, QA, research, customer care, and contract manufacturing teams across time zones • Write architecture notes, protocol specifications, release documentation, and onboarding material

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of embedded firmware development in C and scripting in Python • Experience with RTOS (ThreadX, Zephyr, etc.) or bringing up an unfamiliar vendor SDK • Experience with PCB communication protocols: I2C, SPI, UART, JTAG/SWD, etc. • STM32 experience is an asset • Experience owning firmware releases, including versioning, branching, and release criteria • Ability to drive firmware projects independently • Ability to design firmware architecture and create scalable firmware protocols • Experience with secure bootloaders and firmware update mechanisms; MCUboot or comparable, image signing, rollback protection, and encryption • Experience with BLE, including protocol design and debugging real-world connection problems • Ability to read schematics and component datasheets, bring up an eval board, take measurements, and provide feedback on circuit design • Comfortable with J-Link / ST-Link, SWD, SWO/RTT, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes • Willingness to learn and practice meditation • Experience with consumer audio and Bluetooth audio stacks is a bonus • Experience with biosignals on wearables or medical-device firmware is a bonus • Familiarity with analog and digital signal processing and sensor front ends is a bonus • Low-power design, PMICs, and fuel gauging experience is a bonus • Familiarity with software development life cycle, agile methodology, CI/CD, and hardware-in-the-loop testing for embedded is a bonus • Experience working with contract manufacturers or offshore engineering partners and factory test systems is a bonus
