• Provide operational leadership for IYR’s Communications team • Oversee day-to-day communications work, long-term projects, and cross-departmental collaboration • Develop and implement communications plans supporting organizational vision, campaigns, programs, and strategic objectives • Translate organizational priorities into communications objectives, audience engagements, channels, timelines, and deliverables • Identify communications opportunities, risks, and emerging needs across departments • Maintain the organizational communications calendar • Monitor communications effectiveness and recommend improvements using engagement data and organizational priorities • Develop and maintain communications workflows, procedures, and project management practices • Manage Asana projects, timelines, assignments, dependencies, and approvals • Monitor project progress, team capacity, competing priorities, and risks • Ensure communications materials progress through development, review, approval, and delivery accurately and on time • Oversee quality assurance for social media, website content, campaigns, and other digital communications • Review content for accuracy, accessibility, cultural appropriateness, consistency, and organizational alignment • Guide social media strategies, content calendars, campaigns, and digital initiatives • Monitor performance metrics and use insights to strengthen communications approaches • Oversee, draft, edit, proofread, and refine communications materials • Develop key messages and communications products with departments and organizational leadership • Maintain brand, voice, accessibility, and communications standards • Maintain templates, style guides, standards, and communications tools • Manage day-to-day Communications team operations and priorities • Supervise direct reports and provide guidance, coaching, feedback, training, advocacy, and performance management • Support onboarding, professional development, and role clarity for Communications staff • Maintain continuity of Communications operations during staff absences or capacity gaps • Assess and recommend improvements to team processes, practices, tools, and resource needs • Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment • Participate in staff meetings, working groups, committees, regional gatherings, meetings, and community engagement events • Engage with the Indigenous community and support relationship-building and collaboration • Uphold health, safety, ethical, cultural, and organizational standards • Be available for in-person engagements when required • Undertake other duties as assigned
• 3 or more years’ experience in external communications, public relations, strategic communications, or a related field • 3 or more years’ experience in leadership roles, including staff supervision or management • Strong working knowledge of Asana or comparable project management software, including managing workflows, timelines, assignments, and dependencies • Working proficiency with Adobe Photoshop or comparable professional design software • Ability to make basic content adjustments and support communications deliverables when needed • Experience supporting internal communications is an asset • Experience integrating data or audience insights into communications is an asset • Experience working with Indigenous youth and communities is an asset • Bilingual in French and English is an asset • Availability for in-person engagements when required and provided reasonable notice • Post-secondary education in communications, public relations, business administration, or a related field would be considered an asset
