📋 Description

• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by identifying performance, availability, and security risks before incidents • Advise clients on cloud database architecture, migration, and cost optimization across AWS and Azure IaaS and PaaS • Lead architecture design, disaster recovery planning, and capacity forecasting initiatives • Own the end-to-end database service lifecycle, including backup strategy, HA/DR configuration, proactive tuning, and platform roadmap planning • Define and track database availability and performance SLOs • Drive automated remediation for recurring failure patterns • Lead root-cause analyses and post-incident reviews, converting findings into automation or process improvements • Design and implement scalable database structures, partitioning strategies, and audit specifications • Develop and maintain deployment and rollback scripts • Coordinate version updates across environments • Build Python and PowerShell automation for backup validation, monitoring, alerting, and reporting integrations such as Power BI • Migrate and support SSIS packages and SSAS cubes • Develop stored procedures for reporting • Collaborate directly with client technical teams and executive stakeholders to translate technical findings into business recommendations • Serve as Primary DBA for one or more clients and lead service delivery within Datavail’s multi-tiered managed-services model

🎯 Requirements

• Senior-level SQL Server specialist / SQL Server DBA experience • Strong T-SQL query optimization, including execution plans, parameter sniffing, statistics/cardinality issues, and Query Store-based tuning • Experience rewriting and refactoring stored procedures and T-SQL code for performance • Experience designing and maintaining clustered, nonclustered, covering, and columnstore indexes • Root-cause performance diagnosis using wait-stats analysis and CPU/memory/I-O bottleneck isolation • Experience resolving tempdb contention, blocking, and deadlocks • Hands-on optimization of Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and AWS RDS for SQL Server • Experience with Azure and AWS cloud database architecture, migration, and cost optimization across IaaS and PaaS • Experience with performance baselining and proactive monitoring • Experience leading architecture design, disaster recovery planning, and capacity forecasting • Experience with backup strategy, HA/DR configuration, database tuning, and platform roadmap planning • Experience defining and tracking database availability and performance SLOs • Experience with root-cause analysis and post-incident reviews • Experience designing scalable database structures, partitioning strategies, and audit specifications • Experience developing deployment/rollback scripts and coordinating version updates • Python and PowerShell automation experience • Experience with SSIS packages, SSAS cubes, stored procedures for reporting, and Power BI integrations • Ability to collaborate with client technical teams and executive stakeholders • Ability to travel up to 20% domestically in the US
