• Cover the datacenter market and industry, including facilities, equipment, services, and leading datacenter owners/operators • Build quantitative models for datacenter metrics, including buildouts, floor space, racks, power, cooling, IT infrastructure, and environmental metrics such as carbon emissions/avoidance • Collaborate with infrastructure and cloud services analysts to align datacenter datasets with cloud, IT infrastructure, and AI infrastructure datasets • Produce written and social media coverage of datacenter news, events, and vendors • Create structured reports, blogs, and social media posts that direct attention to IDC research • Speak at events, present webinars, and participate in vendor and end-user events as a subject matter expert
• Bachelor’s degree (STEM degree is a plus, but not required) • Required 5-10 years of relevant work experience, including experience within the IT and/or the datacenter industry • Operating and market knowledge of the datacenter facilities industry • Knowledge of datacenter facilities, including buildouts, operations, cooling, power, racks, floor buildouts, and physical security • Knowledge of hosting, colocation, and wholesale datacenter leasing • Strong awareness of IT infrastructure housed in datacenters, including compute, storage, and networking • Essential quantitative and qualitative (narrative) skills • Strong written and conversational skills • Client engagement experience • Self-driven, adaptable, and able to take initiative and solve problems • Must be able to travel 35–50% • Must be able to travel unrestricted to the US for meetings and vendor events; possess a US Visa and/or be a Canadian citizen • Must be close to an international airport
