• Report to the Underground Shift Supervisor • Safely and efficiently operate underground equipment • Perform underground mining tasks including truck driving, nipping, bogging, charge-up, service crew, construction, long-hole drilling, and jumbo drilling • Minimise equipment downtime and maximise productivity • Perform general labouring as required • Liaise with the Shift Supervisor and previous-shift crew before each shift to obtain work-area information • Ensure tools and equipment are serviceable and safe • Conduct workplace inspections in accordance with MSHA requirements • Communicate clearly and effectively on a two-way radio • Report hazards, incidents, and injuries immediately • Perform pre-start checks and report damage before the end of shift • Assist with fault finding and preventative maintenance • Assess and monitor ground conditions • Conduct scaling according to site requirements • Complete safety activities including Hazard IDs, pre-start checks, pre-start meetings, and incident reporting • Maintain housekeeping standards in all work areas • Perform other duties as required
• Ability to provide leadership and training to new team members • Current Driver’s License • Awareness of the Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act & Regulations • Ability to pass a background check and post-offer physical • Experience in underground hard rock mining techniques • Ability to operate the jumbo within mine design and ground support standards • Ability to minimise rework and waste and identify savings • Ability to provide accurate recording of jumbo daily activity • Ability to operate only with appropriate plans and clear understanding of those plans • Experience leading underground crews and mentoring junior personnel • Basic mechanical knowledge • Good communication skills, including ability to read and speak English • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices • Basic computer literacy • Ability to work 28 days on, 28 days off, 11.50 hours a day or more at a remote campsite • Ability to work in extreme and changing weather, dust, mud, varying noise and light levels, and confined work areas • Employees are required to stay on site at the company-provided camp during the work rotation
