• Apply an Inuit-specific gender-based lens across all stages of the policy cycle • Understand issues through evidence and community engagement • Develop position statements and support leadership in key conversations • Identify, analyze, and provide recommendations on policy and legislative issues and opportunities • Develop briefing notes, position papers, and other policy-related materials • Use evidence-based approaches incorporating Inuit traditional knowledge to monitor issues related to violence, abuse prevention, and justice • Provide recommendations through internal and external consultation with Inuit organizations • Develop documentation supporting submissions to governments, partners, and communities • Identify and access funding sources to advance policy priorities • Plan, facilitate, and document workshops, community meetings, and working groups • Support regular reporting to internal and external stakeholders • Represent the organization on external committees and working groups
• A college or university degree in a relevant discipline and/or combination of education and experience • Experience working with federal, provincial, territorial, northern, or local governments and/or other funding organizations • Experience and/or knowledge of the policy development cycle • Experience and/or knowledge in utilizing a gender-based lens to provide policy analysis and recommendations • Experience with grant and/or contribution agreement development, implementation or evaluation • Experience implementing and coordinating community-based engagements • Knowledge of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit principles and ability to apply them when analyzing and advocating for policy or program development • Knowledge of current policy matters in violence, abuse prevention, and justice among Inuit communities • Fluency in English • Working knowledge of Inuktitut (oral and written) and French is desirable • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Suite and web-based software • Valid driver's license • Ability to travel across Canada • Strong business acumen and exceptional analytical and decision-making skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to work in dynamic, continuously changing, and fast-paced environments
