📋 Description

• Build and execute Sprout Social’s platform-wide AI strategy • Facilitate collaboration across engineering, product management, and product design • Build high-functioning teams of applied AI/ML scientists and engineers • Lead engineering teams developing foundational AI/ML products for Sprout’s product suite and customer base • Chart strategic team growth, define and build new teams, and guide architecture and product direction • Lead teams developing scalable, reliable, distributed AI products and quality software • Guide complex product and technical roadmaps and support strategy execution • Grow engineers and applied scientists through feedback, coaching, and career development • Participate in architectural decisions, quarterly planning, and roadmap processes • Manage AI engineering leaders and provide feedback and career growth plans • Establish staffing plans and hiring processes • Improve team processes and rituals • Collaborate with infrastructure, product, go-to-market, legal, support, product, design, and external stakeholders • Guide execution of major feature launches and balance technical debt, bugs, and product features • Lead performance reviews and career-band calibration • Evangelize Sprout’s AI/ML technical and product vision • Stay current on AI/ML trends and technologies and bring industry perspective to strategy and roadmaps

🎯 Requirements

• 7+ years of experience building and supporting products in a production environment • 7+ years in software development, including several years leading teams and managing through leaders • Track record of building sustainable, high-performing team structures • Experience leading engineering teams building AI/ML or agentic products • Experience partnering with or leading applied scientists and AI/ML engineers • Recent, direct experience (typically the last 2–3 years) leading or closely driving modern AI products, agentic or LLM-based systems, evaluation and quality, built on foundation models • Preferred: Direct experience leading mixed teams of applied scientists and AI/ML engineers • Preferred: Experience developing and scaling high-performance teams through hiring and coaching • Preferred: Experience at a SaaS or product company that made a meaningful AI pivot • Preferred: Experience aligning vision across a complex product suite and diverse global customer base • Preferred: Track record of influencing and aligning cross-functional stakeholders • Preferred: Experience developing enterprise-level distributed applications using Python, Java, distributed queuing systems, etc. • Preferred: Experience deploying, managing, evaluating, and serving machine learning models and agentic products at scale • Preferred: Experience with generative AI, including open source and third-party solutions such as OpenAI
