📋 Description

• Co-own the AI engineering team of roughly 30 forward deployed engineers alongside existing engineering leaders • Own team health and happiness through regular 1:1s and early intervention on disengagement, burnout, and bench frustration • Run performance reviews against the FDE rubric • Develop the team through training sessions, playbooks, checklists, pairing, and internal writeups • Define and maintain baseline AI competency standards • Codify best engineering practices and distill field learnings into reusable patterns • Track engagement health across the portfolio and surface delivery and client-relationship risks • Review architectures and pressure-test technical approaches • Guide evaluation strategy, instrumentation, and impact measurement • Step onto engagements as technical lead when needed • Partner with talent on sourcing, hiring-manager screens, interviewer calibration, and the technical bar • Staff engagements based on skill, growth, and client fit while balancing utilization and development • Support scoping and pre-sales conversations • Act as senior escalation point for clients and partners

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of engineering experience • 3+ years directly managing senior engineers, including hiring, performance management, and difficult conversations • Experience leading teams of 15+ engineers across concurrent projects or engagements • Ability to read architectures, identify flaws, and propose improvements • Strong full-stack experience with TypeScript, React, Node.js, and Python or Go • Proven experience building and shipping production agentic applications with orchestration and tool-calling patterns • Experience setting up evaluation harnesses and testing infrastructure for agentic applications using real prompts and business metrics • Familiarity with MLOps or LLMOps, including monitoring, guardrails, and human-in-the-loop design • Experience with at least one major cloud provider: GCP, AWS, or Azure • Practical AI-native use of coding agents, harnesses, and workflows • Consulting, agency, or forward deployed engineering experience • Ability to manage client expectations and timelines • Track record of developing people through training, onboarding, or mentorship structures • Comfort operating in ambiguity and making decisions independently • Exceptional communication across executives, staff engineers, and written updates • Nice to have: enterprise experience in financial services, healthcare, or retail • Nice to have: experience scaling forward deployed engineering, solutions engineering, or professional services teams • Nice to have: AI enablement or developer productivity program experience • Nice to have: founder, CTO, or early venture-backed startup experience • Nice to have: LLM fine-tuning experience • Nice to have: Kubernetes and container orchestration familiarity • Nice to have: scalable data pipeline or data lake design experience • Nice to have: relevant certifications, open-source contributions, or technical publications
