• Develop and implement internal underwriting strategies, product offerings, and responses to regulatory changes or compliance audits • Create and maintain updated underwriting guides, rules, and resource libraries • Review and analyze complex files to provide expert support for claims and legal teams • Interpret and leverage data insights for informed decision-making and strategic prioritization • Conduct in-depth research on emerging markets, innovative products, and evolving risk landscapes • Evaluate and approve complex underwriting files and high-level decisions as appropriate • Build and execute remediation plans for system errors and manage regulatory reporting documentation • Monitor market trends, industry shifts, and regulatory announcements • Track and report product performance for long-term growth and stability • Collaborate with leadership and cross-functional teams including product and underwriting management, marketing, claims, and operations
• A degree or diploma in business, commerce, economics, insurance or marketing or equivalent work experience • A minimum of 3 years of continuous personal lines automobile insurance underwriting or product development experience • Specific experience with ICBC Autoplan and optional coverage in BC • Working knowledge of the insurance legislation and regulatory framework in the province of experience • Experience conducting wording analysis to identify coverage gaps and develop new wording in plain language • Experience working on projects in a cross-functional fast-paced environment • Experience developing supplementary resources or training materials • High proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn new technologies • CAIB, CIP, or FCIP designation preferred • Fluency in English; French desirable
