📋 Description

• Provide guidance, mentorship, and career development for a team of software engineers • Manage 2–3 product Pods of 2–4 engineers plus a Product Manager and Designer • Contribute to product success across Engineering, Product Management, and Design • Implement features, address shortcomings, and respond to customer requests across the codebase • Provide technical direction and grow engineers’ technical leadership capabilities • Interview and recruit engineers • Develop engineering culture and organizational processes • Achieve business outcomes through cross-functional collaboration with product managers, data scientists, and designers • Improve team performance and work quality and make major design decisions • Hire, nurture, and oversee engineers while fostering psychological well-being, diversity, and inclusion • Lead a team managing a critical production service, including monitoring, alerting, and on-call operations • Moderate design discussions and cultivate a candid, constructive feedback culture • Collaborate across technical domains on complex projects • Drive planning from immediate tactical needs through long-term strategy

🎯 Requirements

• Experience as a people manager; the role requires prior management experience • Substantial experience managing and mentoring Engineering teams, including performance evaluations and career development • Background building and operating highly available, high-performance production services • Expertise managing on-call rotations and incident response • Ability to independently evaluate complex technical tradeoffs in design discussions • Experience developing in Go • Ability to give and process constructive feedback and work independently • Flexibility to adjust to the dynamic nature of a startup • Ability to think on your feet, collaborate with highly technical teams, and work asynchronously
