• Report to Associate General Counsel, Legal • Proactively manage TerraPower’s company insurance programs • Manage and advise on project-specific insurance • Manage corporate and project-specific insurance lines, including property and casualty, financial and professional liability, builder’s risk, OCIP/CCIP, and other coverage • Partner with finance to manage the surety program, including bonding capacity, surety relationships, collateral requirements, and indemnity obligations • Serve as subject matter expert on U.S. and international nuclear liability frameworks and nuclear insurance policies • Provide guidance on U.S. nuclear licensing requirements, including 10 CFR § 50.54(w), 10 CFR § 50.75, and 10 CFR § 140.11 • Manage insurance broker relationships, develop placement strategies, negotiate coverage terms, manage claims, and issue certificates of insurance • Collaborate with engineering and EHS stakeholders to evaluate and implement loss control measures • Evaluate, develop, and implement alternative risk transfer programs and specialty insurance products • Analyze risk appetite, risk-bearing capacity, and risk-sharing standards during insurance placements and renewals • Collaborate with legal, procurement, and contracts teams on commercial contracts, indemnity provisions, risk of loss, insurance requirements, and counterparty compliance • Administer insurance lines according to policy terms, conditions, and claims reporting requirements • Review insurance binders, policies, and endorsements for accuracy • Manage ERM taxonomy and governance and develop scalable processes to identify, assess, mitigate, report, and monitor risks • Oversee annual enterprise risk assessments and identify emerging risks • Develop and refine enterprise risk appetite and tolerances • Provide executive ERM reports to the ERMC Committee and Board Audit Committee • Coordinate and implement risk management and insurance process improvements • Develop and conduct training and education programs on insurance and risk concepts • Work with internal audit, EHS, QA, IT, and finance to enable an integrated risk management program • Perform other duties as assigned
• Bachelor’s degree in a business or risk-management-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience • 10+ years of relevant insurance-related experience, with general liability strongly preferred • At least 3 years as a corporate risk manager preferred • Applicable experience in nuclear energy, nuclear pharmacy, construction or utilities sectors, or insurance brokerage required • Expert knowledge of commercial insurance concepts • Practical and experience-proven knowledge of enterprise risk management and risk mitigation strategies • Knowledge of construction means and methods and industry-standard insurance policies and forms • Knowledge of claims management with progressive experience managing complex claims • Knowledge of contract provisions related to insurance • Expertise in data analysis and reporting • Understanding of the regulatory and administrative environment in which risk management issues are navigated • Highly skilled and efficient in organizing information • Strong decision-making/problem solving skills • Excellent analytic and reasoning skills • Strong interpersonal skills in working cross-functionally with other groups • Exceptional verbal and written communication needed for reporting to executive level management • Ability to resolve conflicts effectively • Ability to communicate comfortably and effectively with diverse groups of people • Self-motivated, resourceful, and self-directed • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment • Ability to safely lift up to 25 pounds • Travel required 0-10% • TerraPower export-control review requirements may apply to foreign nationals; applicants will be asked to identify whether they are a U.S. Citizen or national, asylee, refugee, or lawful permanent resident of the United States
