📋 Description

• Provide engineering for distribution electrical projects throughout the full project lifecycle, from conceptual and feasibility stages through detailed design, construction, and service • Lead or support overhead and underground distribution engineering projects • Define scopes of work and complete cost estimates • Perform engineering calculations and interconnection studies • Develop detailed design drawings • Support preparation of technical specifications, tender documents, technical reports, and project calculations • Provide construction support and overall project engineering coordination as required • Respond to information requests during construction • Complete project documentation, including preparation of record drawings • Lead engineers and designers when required to deliver a portfolio of projects • Maintain and enhance relationships with other design disciplines and external stakeholders • Assist team leads and managers • Travel to and visit project sites during design and construction as required

🎯 Requirements

• Electrical Engineering Degree from a recognized university • Professional Engineering Designation or eligibility for registration • 5+ years of overhead and underground distribution engineering experience serving utilities in North America • Knowledge of CSA/IEC/NESC/IEEE Standards and Codes and major utility Engineering Standards • Knowledge of electrical design, including selection and installation of conductors, insulators, switchgears, circuit breakers, fuses, and other distribution equipment • Knowledge of smart infrastructure equipment, including automatic feeder switches, remote sensing switching, remote sensing cap banks, and other smart equipment • Knowledge of PVs and EVs • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders • Ability to exercise initiative when resolving issues and adapting and applying procedures to unusual situations • Ability to take responsibility for outputs on high-profile projects and grow professionally • Clean driving record/abstract • Asset: Knowledge of structural, civil, and geotechnical aspects of distribution engineering • Asset: Knowledge of overhead systems design and PLS-CADD • Asset: Knowledge of interconnecting DERs and modeling interconnection studies • Asset: Experience in power system analysis using CYME, ETAP, EasyPower, or SKM • Asset: Experience with substation and transmission projects • Asset: Experience with AutoCAD • Asset: Experience with GIS applications such as Smallworld, GE, or Bently • Asset: Experience with structural analysis software such as SpidaCalc, Pole Foreman, or PLS-CADD • Asset: Experience mentoring junior staff • Asset: Experience working in both Canada and the United States for a local utility company • Asset: Experience in a utility or consulting environment and managing multiple projects with competing priorities
