Youth Climate Lab is a youth-led organization that trains, empowers, and supports young people to develop and lead climate solutions, campaigns, and startups. It delivers educational programs, workshops, and accelerator-style initiatives to build youth leadership, communications, and entrepreneurial skills for climate action, and collaborates with community groups, governments, and businesses to scale youth-driven impact.

📋 Description

• Reports to: Executive Director & Board of Directors • Supervises: Operations Coordinator and Impact Lead • Aid Executive Director and Managers with recruitment and hiring of staff • Responsible for overseeing the onboarding of new staff, including creating and tracking employment contracts • Manage offboarding employees • Monitor staff time to help assess team capacity and gaps • Research and apply for various wage subsidy programs • Manage wage subsidy compliance and reporting • Run bi-weekly payroll using a third-party payroll service provider (Ceridian) • Oversee performance reviews of staff using a 360 model • Produce financial reports and organize the bookkeeping for each quarter and the year-end • Co-create the fiscal budget with the Executive Director • Manage bank accounts and credit cards • Process and monitor all invoicing to funders and customers, as well as payments to contractors and suppliers. • Responsible for compiling, interpreting, executing, and verifying financial information • Monitor and analyze the organization’s cash flow • Liaise with our accounting firm for the annual audit • Maintain the organization's operations manual • Be accountable for overseeing Monday.com and Google Drive organization • Manage all information and technology access for the organization • Manage the Youth Climate Lab Finance email • Coordinate quarterly board of directors meetings and offer check-in points to support the management of the sub-committees • Control and innovate governance and people management policies and procedures while suggesting improvements to the internal control framework • Analysis of performance measures and alignment with organizational strategy • Developing strategies that work to minimize financial risk • Liaise with our lawyers for any legal requirements and needs • Work with the Programs Manager to support budgeting and cost controls of individual projects. • Work with the management team to determine fundraising strategies and funding budgets. • Reading through various grant and fundraising proposals to understand restrictions and regulations. • Ensure compliance with various regulatory/compliance requirements with a wide range of funders and partners, such as the creation and maintenance of project budget lifecycles and their relevant documentation requirements. • Manage Impact lead • Meet with impact interns or capstone students as needed • Oversee financial and fundraising reporting • Interest in collecting and using data to tell stories • Support with financials for grant writing • Organizing fundraising support & data collection for fundraising goal setting

🎯 Requirements

• A post-secondary degree or lived experience related to finance, operations, business administration, non-profit management, and similar fields. • Demonstrated interest and experience in climate action. • Commitment to advancing justice, equity, diversity and inclusion (JEDI), and decolonization. • Experience in non-profit and/or grassroots organizations, particularly youth-led initiatives (asset). • Experience in fundraising and grant writing (asset). • Experience with building online workflows and HR systems management (asset). • Experience fostering healthy interpersonal relationships between staff and external stakeholders (asset). • Experience working across time-zones (asset). • Proficiency in Monday.com, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, Miro (asset). • Bilingual - proficient in written and verbal French and English (asset).
