• Design and implement original research projects to ensure ACLED impact and innovation. • Provide region-specific contributions to thematic or global outputs. • Oversee the production of other regional outputs, coordinating with the Global Data Collection and Data Science teams as necessary. • Provide expert commentary and analysis for outputs produced by the External Affairs team. • Coordinate with the Global Data Collection and Data Science teams to support data collection, review, and enrichment. • Contribute to improving regional coverage of ACLED data, identifying new local sources or partners in the Middle East. • Provide expert analysis for donors and stakeholders. • Maintain or establish relations with existing and prospective partners, in coordination with the Global Data Collection, Global Engagement, and Revenue teams. • Support the Analysis management and Revenue teams to develop new project ideas and funding proposals to advance ACLED strategic priorities.
• Experience in conflict analysis • Extensive knowledge of politics and society in the Middle East, particularly Palestine, Lebanon and/or Syria • Minimum of three (3) years of work experience providing actionable insights to a diverse range of audiences (public sector, private sector, international organizations, media) • Master’s Degree in Political Science/Social Sciences/Geography/Sociology focused on conflict studies or equivalent required • Fluency in English and Arabic • Demonstrated familiarity with the ACLED dataset • Demonstrated familiarity with data analysis and visualization software • Familiarity with local organizations working to report and document human rights violations and/or collect conflict data
