📋 Description

• Build scalable systems and data pipelines to power consumer credit reporting • Partner closely with Product, Compliance, Servicing, and Credit teams to design robust reporting systems • Deliver accurate and timely data from Affirm’s financial product portfolio to Consumer Reporting Agencies • Drive the definition and delivery of quarterly and long-term goals and ensure team work aligns with company objectives • Influence backend architecture and technical strategy across multiple teams to ensure scalable, extensible solutions • Ensure high availability and reliability by establishing monitoring, alerting, and recovery practices and driving operational improvements • Mentor and grow engineers through mentorship, code/design reviews, and technical leadership • Author technical proposals, share best practices via documentation and tech talks to scale impact beyond the team

🎯 Requirements

• 6+ years of experience designing and building large-scale distributed backend systems • Strong proficiency in languages like Kotlin (or Python as a plus) • Proven track record of delivering high-volume, highly available systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes (Airflow, Spark, as a plus) • Experience defining technical strategies for complex, cross-team initiatives • Skilled at building resilient systems with monitoring, alerting, and safe deployment practices • Comfortable driving significant changes in large, complex codebases • History of mentoring engineers and shaping best practices beyond immediate group • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficient in asynchronous communication (written tech specs, wiki, project plans) • High degree of organization and ability to surface critical information effectively
