📋 Description

• Co-own client libraries and services used by thousands of Airbnb engineers to roll out features and run experiments, primarily on the JVM • Consolidate feature flag and product configuration systems onto a single platform • Make it easy and safe to set up flags, configuration, and experiments in code • Build and extend experimentation, feature flagging, and product configuration clients and supporting services • Design and lead cross-team migrations, including evolving client APIs, deprecating old APIs, and safely moving consuming services • Improve testability, performance, and reliability of widely deployed, interconnected client libraries • Build allocation and targeting capabilities, such as holdouts and mutually exclusive experiments, in partnership with data science • Use AI-assisted development for migrations, tests, and refactors, and help establish team practices • Participate in design, implementation, testing, and on-call • Work across the stack, including Python services when needed • Collaborate with data science partners, infrastructure engineers, and product engineers

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years in a hands-on software engineering role, shipping high-quality code to production • Strong experience in a JVM language (Java or Kotlin) • Experience building libraries or services that other developers depend on • Deep understanding of object-oriented programming and API design, including backward compatibility and versioning • Experience driving cross-team changes, migrations, or deprecations with many consumers • Communication skills and track record to lead projects spanning teams • Hands-on fluency with AI-assisted development, including coding agents and LLM tools, and ability to verify their output • Comfortable working in Python and other layers of the stack, or eager to learn • Experience with feature flagging or product configuration systems, experimentation platforms, or web and mobile clients [Bonus] • Experience with latency-sensitive, high-throughput client SDKs [Bonus]
