• Collaborate closely with the Director to develop and execute forward-looking tax strategies that align with corporate objectives and drive long-term value. • Support global tax initiatives to optimize the effective tax rate and cash tax rate. • Monitor legislative changes and assess tax implications for Avient’s operations. • Provide initial support and input on matters of due diligence related to M&A transactions and restructuring activities. • Represent Avient in cross-functional initiatives and enterprise-wide projects, ensuring alignment of tax with broader business goals. • Provide support to Controllers on tax audits and manage tax audits and/or controversy regarding strategic transactions with the support of external service providers. • Provide support to the Director on advanced pricing agreements, mutual agreement procedures, foreign tax litigation, and ruling request. • Update EMEA business leadership on EMEA tax controversy and tax regulatory developments at least twice per year. • Support the Director by reviewing and approving transfer pricing documentation prepared by Managed Services Partner. • Serve as the primary liaison with external tax service providers and external auditors in region. • Prepare tax models, draft step plans and provide tax analysis in proficient English. • Collaborate with Managed Service partner and Director, Global Tax Operations on Regional transactions for determination of tax provision and compliance implications. • Responsible for certain controls, including review and approval of transfer pricing, and valuation allowances (VA) and uncertain tax positions (UTP) in region. • Overseeing tax treaty qualifications and withholding tax exemption certificates with assistance from local tax advisors. • Support Controllers and Managed Service Partner on tax compliance and tax provision matters as they arise.
• Accredited four-year or more degree and certification in accounting, tax, and/or law. • Strong skills and 8+ years of experience in international tax planning and controversy, including managing tax audits. • Broad experience with oversight of complex international tax matters for multinational companies or equivalent experience at Big Four public accounting firms. • Ability to interpret and apply European tax rules in relevant contexts to support decision-making and compliance efforts. • Critical thinking and the ability to “own” responsibilities in a fast-paced environment focused on results. • Team player with proven ability to lead and manage projects. • Strong skills in getting and analyzing financial data for tax modeling (Excel). • Familiarity with SAP, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and OneSource. • Excellent interpersonal communication skills in English (reading, writing, and speaking) with additional regional language proficiency appreciated.
