📋 Description

• Build, test and maintain high-quality Ruby on Rails applications • Work with Product and Engineering colleagues to understand requirements and deliver customer-focused solutions • Develop and maintain APIs and integrations with other systems and services • Improve API quality, consistency and documentation • Write automated tests and participate in code reviews • Investigate bugs, performance issues and technical problems, identify root causes and implement solutions • Collaborate with engineers, Product Managers, QA and designers • Improve the codebase, development processes and ways of working • Develop Ruby, Rails and wider engineering knowledge while taking on increasing technical ownership • Work on a product used by thousands of businesses and their employees • Report to a Team Lead, who reports to the CPTO

🎯 Requirements

• 2–5 years of professional software development experience, with solid hands-on experience building and maintaining Ruby on Rails applications in a production environment • Good understanding of object-oriented programming, software design principles, testing, version control and maintainable code • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and working with integrations between different systems • Good understanding of relational databases and experience with SQL and PostgreSQL or similar • Experience writing automated tests and using a testing framework such as RSpec • Structured approach to diagnosing technical problems and finding sustainable solutions • Ability to collaborate with engineers and cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts clearly • Proactive and curious approach to learning, ownership and continuous improvement • Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and coding agents • Nice to have: React or another modern JavaScript framework • Nice to have: AWS or other cloud platforms • Nice to have: background jobs, messaging systems or event-driven architectures • Nice to have: third-party integrations • Nice to have: Cypress, Robot Framework or other automated testing tools • Nice to have: mobile applications or React Native • Nice to have: AI technologies, LLM integrations or MCP • Nice to have: SaaS environment experience
