📋 Description

• The Director of Protective Services Emergency Management is responsible for all aspects of emergency management functions for BSMH. • Helps to standardize the emergency management (EM) programs and emergency operations plans to meet regulatory requirements. • Assist in the design, facilitation, and review of Ministry-level EM exercises required by the authorities having jurisdiction as well as regulatory and credentialing agencies. • Ensures a safe and secure environment for patients, colleagues, and the community. • Provides opportunities for engagement and management during risk assessments, goal setting, improvement priorities, monitoring progress and further evaluation of the effectiveness of the department. • Facilitates procedures to ensure the mission is embedded into the Protective Services function across the enterprise. • Provides routine updates, important and timely information to all constituent groups. • Establishes and maintains open communication with colleagues and other department leaders to foster trust, understanding, and respect. • Ensures the Public Safety and Emergency Management strategy protects regional assets and simultaneously balances and ensures a consumer-driven focus related to patients, support service colleagues, clinicians, and physicians. • In partnership with Dir Protective Services Training position, is responsible for training of hospital staff in related areas of emergency management. • Develops business cases, seeks approval and funding, grant or otherwise, to address safety and emergency projects to address improvements in systems, people, strength, processes, and technology. • Serves as the leader and advisor for preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery activities. • Ensures colleague engagement and action plans are achieved successfully; establishes performance expectations; coaches, develops, and evaluates performance.

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in public, healthcare or business administration, program management, leadership, emergency management, risk management, non-profit management or another related field (required) • 5 years of experience in Emergency Management. (required) • Experience in document writing to include policies procedures and plans (required) • Familiarity with the Hospital Incident Command System (preferred) • Previous or current service in first responder or clinical community including: firefighting, law enforcement, emergency medical services (EMT, Paramedic) (preferred) • Experience in a healthcare setting (preferred) • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Incident Command System (ICS) Courses 100, 200, 300, 400, 700 and 800 (required) • Homeland Security Exercise and Evaluation Program (HSEEP) (required or obtainable within 6 months of hire) • Hospital Emergency Response Team training or Instructor Training (preferred) • Incident Command System (ICS) Instructor Training (preferred) • Business Continuity Training or Certification (preferred) • Public Information Officer Training or Certification (preferred) • Emergency Operations Center Training (FEMA 191, etc.) (preferred)
