• Participate in Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives, contributing ideas and updates to ensure team alignment. • Design and develop robust backend and frontend features for our C2MS insurance platform using PHP, Laravel, Filament, and Vue.js, with integrated financial and accounting systems. • Build andmaintaininsurance-specific financial systems including premium billing, commission calculations, claims settlements, payment processing, and reconciliation workflows. • Develop insurance accounting functionality including general ledger integration, accounts payable/receivable for premiums and claims, financial reporting for regulatory compliance (FCA, Lloyd's standards), and multi-currency handling. • Create andmaintainautomated underwriting rules, rating engines, and complex financial calculations specific to insurance products (premiums, deductibles, loadings, discounts, endorsements). • Write andmaintainunit, integration, and end-to-end (E2E) automated tests to ensure code quality and reliability, with particular attention to financial accuracy, premium calculations, and data integrity in insurance transactions • Collaborate with QA engineers, business analysts, and product owners to understand requirements and implement user-centric features. • Troubleshoot and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities in existing applications. • Follow best practices for version control (Git flows), CI/CD pipelines, and static code analysis using tools likeQodana,PHPStan,Trivy, and Composer/NPM audit. • Write efficient and optimized queries using MySQL and contribute to database schema design and performance improvements, insurance policy data models, claims management systems, financial transaction processing, audit trails, and high-volume premium calculations. • Work with APIs and third-party integrations including payment gateways, data enrichment providers (e.g.,Loqatefor address verification), ACORD messaging standards, and partner systems for risk assessment and distribution • Work within an Agile environment and actively contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and team workflows. • Maintain documentation of systems, APIs, and modules to support long-term maintainability and team knowledge sharing. • Mentor and support junior developers through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing to foster growth andmaintainhigh development standards. • Apply AI-assisted development tooling (coding copilots, test generation, automated refactoring) to accelerate delivery whilemaintainingthe correctness standards required in financial and insurancesystems. • Adoptagentic development workflows - scoping and delegating multi-step coding, testing, and refactoring tasks to AI coding agents that plan and execute across the codebase, then directing, reviewing, andvalidatingtheir output rather than authoring every change line-by-line. • Apply sound engineering judgement on where agentic autonomy isappropriateand where human verification is mandatory, particularly in financial and audit-sensitive workflows. • Contribute to the design and implementation of AI-enabled features within the C2MS platform-including LLM integrations, retrieval-augmented workflows, and intelligent document or data processing for underwriting, claims, and policy administration. • Critically evaluate AI-generated code, outputs, and calculations with the same rigour applied to any other source, particularly in premium computations, regulatory reporting, and audit-sensitive workflows where correctness is non-negotiable. • Apply responsible AI practices in FinTech contexts, including data-handling boundaries, prompt and context design, model selection, and validation of outputs against GDPR, FCA, and Lloyd's market requirements.
• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. • Minimum 5 years of experience as a software developer in a production environment, with at least 2 years working on insurance software, FinTech applications, accounting systems, or financial services platforms • Strong knowledge of PHP andJavaScript, with experience in modern frameworks like Laravel, Filament, and Vue.js. • Experience with core accounting principles including double-entry bookkeeping, general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, financial reporting, and reconciliation processes as they apply to insurance operations • Experience with payment gateway integrations, financial APIs, or complex financial calculation engines • Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL) and best practices for writing efficient queries. • Experience with CI/CD tools, Git version control, and automated testing frameworks. • Familiarity with static code analysis tools and secure development practices, with understanding of security standards relevant to financial and insurance systems (ISO 27001, SOC 2) • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail, essential for working with insurance rating calculations, premium computations, and monetary precision • Experience working in a Scrum or other Agile teams is a plus • Excellent communication and collaboration skills. • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistantsand agentic coding workflowsin a production engineering workflow, and/or integrating LLMs or ML services into customer-facing applications-ideally within a regulated, financial, or insurance domain.
