<California Virtual Academy @ Los Angeles> is a full-time online public TK–12 school serving California students. CAVA @ Los Angeles delivers state-aligned, interactive curriculum powered by K12/Stride, staffed by California-credentialed teachers, and offers college- and career-prep, AP/Honors courses, extracurriculars, and support services (tutoring, Title IX coordination, military family support). Enrollment is tuition-free for public students and the program emphasizes personalized, flexible online learning and strong attendance and accountability measures.

📋 Description

• Orienting students to their courses and communicating course and school requirements. This includes communicating via email, phone, in person and online classroom. • Support homeroom students with general school information, schedule set-up, monitor student attendance and progress throughout the program. • Provide small group and direct instruction to students of course content. • Participate in instructional coaching and develop instruction to address coaching goals. • Augment course content in the form of remediation, modification, and enrichment. • Implement student’s IEP’s and attend IEP conferences as needed. • Set deadlines for student work and grant extensions as deemed appropriate. • Face to Face meetings with students and teaching adult as scheduled. This may include in person or an online classroom meeting. • Grade student work and enter grades into an online grade book in a timely manner (no more than 3 days without an update in grade book). • Ensure all communication with families is documented according to school policies. • Meet with regional lead teacher and/or curriculum specialist to discuss student data and set goals and actions for remediation. Instruction should be provided based on those action items. • Follow all school policies. • Participate in State Testing- this includes but is not limited to: Proctoring throughout testing window and all other state mandated and school required assessments

🎯 Requirements

• Permanent California Residence (Must currently reside in 1 of the 42 counties we service students and hire in) • Valid/current Preliminary/Clear/Life California Single Subject Teaching Credential in Art • California English Learner Authorization- Issued by CTC • Bachelor's degree • Strong content and subject-matter knowledge • Ability to support and guide adults, as well as students • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Organization and time-management skills • Excellent writing and grammar skills • Flexible schedule • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS Word, and Outlook, PowerPoint and experience using them in a professional capacity
