📋 Description

• Provide Translation services for individuals with a language barrier across Education, legal, Medical, Environmental, and Social Services • Accurately translate spoken work situations like lectures, conversations, and meetings • Utilize technology to transcribe spoken English in some settings • Read original documents and translate into the language required • Edit translated versions • Be sensitive to the culture of the original languages and the target languages during the translation process • Be on-call and respond to notifications within 48 hours of potential jobs • May travel for business or professional development • Report to Deputy Program Manager • Other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• High School/BA Degree/ or equivalent in years of experience • Foreign Service Institute • Certified Translation Professional • ATA Certification • Translation Certifications • Experience with State Department experience/ refugees, FDA, Health & Human services, Medical, Legal, Housing Authority etc. • Must be fluent in Ixil • Must be able to pass a background check • May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment • Ability to facilitate translation with discretion and impartiality • Proficiency in written communication • A wide breadth of knowledge in a variety of topics • Strong social awareness for interpretation with empathy and attentiveness • Cultural awareness when conducting translations within different regions • Physical stamina and dexterity for extended sessions • Must possess problem-solving skills • Proficient in Microsoft and Adobe toolsets, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc. • Highly motivated with the ability to handle and manage multiple tasks at any one time • Ability to forge new relationships, individual and teaming in nature • Must be a Self-starter, that can work independently and as part of a team
