📋 Description

• Maintain and extend hundreds of scrapers that continuously pull court data into the system • Ingest millions of documents and safely merge them into the production database • Help build and evolve the portal receiving digitization work from the United States Library of Congress • Convert scanned material into structured text and documents and merge it into the archive • Work on machine learning processes that identify and remove copyrighted material • Design batch operations across five to ten million records efficiently without taking databases down • Diagnose slow queries and review migrations • Provide database expertise and support to the team

🎯 Requirements

• Professional, in-depth Python experience • Django experience; this is the framework used and the most important skill for the role • Strong database fundamentals, particularly with PostgreSQL • Ability to read execution plans, diagnose slow queries, reason about indexes, and handle migrations • Production experience building, maintaining, and debugging web scrapers • Celery, Redis, and Kubernetes experience are nice to have • Machine learning applied to document processing, including OCR, classification, or extraction, is nice to have • Experience with legal data, civic tech, govtech, or open data is nice to have • Elasticsearch or similar search infrastructure experience is nice to have • Genuine interest in law, access to justice, or social justice work is nice to have
