📋 Description

• Define and own a multi-year platform strategy aligned to HCD's engineering, product, and business objectives across all three brands • Represent HCD Platform Engineering in enterprise-wide architecture and governance forums • Drive pragmatic adoption of AI-assisted development tooling and agentic infrastructure workflows across the HCD portfolio • Build the foundational enablement layer, including environmental context, policy grounding, and secure guardrails, that allows engineering teams to operate agentic workflows safely and correctly in a regulated, multi-cloud environment • Lead, develop, and retain a multi-layer organization of people leaders and senior technical contributors • Foster a culture of technical excellence, psychological safety, and pragmatic delivery • Own the platform engineering roadmap: prioritization, sequencing, and delivery quality across all capability teams • Champion automation across platform operations • Establish and enforce operational standards • Own the platform engineering budget, including headcount, tooling, and cloud cost accountability • Manage strategic vendor relationships

🎯 Requirements

• 12+ years in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, or a related field • 5+ years leading multi-team engineering organizations • Proven experience managing managers and senior ICs across a capability-centered or platform-oriented org • Deep familiarity with multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) • Hands-on familiarity with modern CI/CD ecosystems, developer portals (e.g., Backstage), observability tooling (e.g., Grafana, New Relic), and experience driving adoption of AI-assisted tooling and automation across engineering organizations • Background in a regulated industry (healthcare preferred; finance or equivalent acceptable), with working knowledge of HIPAA compliance • Direct experience owning an engineering budget, including headcount, tooling, and cloud spend, with demonstrated FinOps discipline at scale • Experience managing external vendors: contract negotiations, performance management, and strategic sourcing decisions • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across engineering, product, security, finance, and enterprise leadership • A product mindset and pragmatic by default: you build platforms your internal customers want to use, you cut scope not corners, and you know the difference.
