📋 Description

• Own the technical direction of the managed service • Design the target and deployment architecture for multi-tenant openDesk SaaS operations across multiple Kubernetes clusters • Establish engineering standards and document technical decisions as ADRs • Conduct design and code reviews • Shape the Helmfile-based openDesk deployment with 35+ Helm charts, Helm Diff, environments, and values • Deliver through GitLab CI and deploy supporting services using GitOps • Own the database concept using CNPG and MariaDB Operator, including backup, restore, and PITR • Own secret management via ExternalSecrets connected to OpenBao • Define the application-level monitoring and alerting concept with openDesk-specific metrics and SLI/SLOs • Own technical ISO 27001 compliance based on BSI IT-Grundschutz • Design IT service management processes in accordance with ITIL and integrate CI/CD into change management • Define interfaces with the Platform Team and make build-versus-buy decisions • Mentor DevOps, rollout, and support engineers • Participate in the on-call rotation

🎯 Requirements

• Several years of experience architecting and operating complex, Kubernetes-based application environments as SaaS or managed services • In-depth knowledge of the openDesk stack or comparable collaboration components • Proficiency with Helm and Helmfile, as well as CI-driven rollouts, such as GitLab CI, and GitOps, such as Flux • Experience operating databases on Kubernetes through operators, ideally CNPG/CloudNativePG and/or MariaDB Operator, including backup/restore and PITR • Experience with secret management, ExternalSecrets, Vault/OpenBao, and application-level monitoring and alerting using the Prometheus ecosystem, Thanos, and Loki • Experience with IT service management in accordance with ITIL, including incident, problem, change, and release management, as well as CI/CD integration • Technical responsibility for information security in accordance with ISO 27001, based on BSI IT-Grundschutz • Strong Linux skills and willingness to participate in the on-call rotation • Business-level German and English (C1/C2), both written and spoken • Strong technical leadership skills without disciplinary responsibility • Excellent analytical and conceptual abilities • Strong communication skills when working with engineers, service owners, and the Platform Team • Hands-on mindset • Willingness to lead by example and actively seek 360-degree feedback • Nice to have: Hands-on product experience with openDesk, multi-tenant SaaS operations, multi-cluster operations, supporting services, and certifications such as CKA/CKS, ITIL, ISO 27001, or BSI IT-Grundschutz Practitioner • Nice to have: Experience in facilitation, conflict resolution, de-escalation, training, and knowledge transfer
