πŸ“‹ Description

β€’ Estimate Preparation: Develop detailed cost estimates for sewer and water construction, earthworks and road building (including concrete curb and flatworks) projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. β€’ Ensure accuracy and completeness of all estimates. β€’ Scope Review: Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to identify project requirements and scope of work. β€’ Conduct site visits as needed to assess project conditions and gather relevant information. β€’ Quantity Takeoff: Perform accurate quantity takeoffs of materials and labour required for each project. β€’ Utilize industry-standard software and tools to streamline the takeoff process. β€’ Pricing: Research and analyze current market prices for materials, labor, and equipment. β€’ Maintain a database of unit prices and cost information to support accurate and competitive estimates. β€’ Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and challenges associated with each project. β€’ Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure that estimates account for all possible contingencies. β€’ Bid Coordination: Collaborate with operations manager, president, project managers, engineers, and other team members to develop comprehensive bid packages. β€’ Prepare and submit bids in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with client requirements and deadlines. β€’ Subcontractor Management: Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors and suppliers. β€’ Negotiate pricing and terms to ensure competitive and fair agreements. β€’ Client Interaction: Communicate effectively with bid and tender issuers and clients to clarify project requirements and address any questions or concerns. β€’ Present estimates and proposals to clients in a clear and professional manner. β€’ Project Handoff: Provide detailed handoff documentation to project managers and finance upon award of contracts. β€’ Ensure that all estimate information is accurately transferred to support project planning and execution. β€’ Project Management: As capacity allows, contribute to the project management of current work.

🎯 Requirements

β€’ Civil Engineering or Construction Management Degree or Diploma. β€’ A minimum of 5 years of heavy civil construction estimating experience, preferably within the sewer and water infrastructure sector, with other earthworks, road construction and curb, sidewalk and asphalt experience an asset. β€’ Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry standards related to sewer and water projects. β€’ Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as Bluebeam, B2W, or similar programs. β€’ Excellent analytical and mathematical skills, with a high level of attention to detail. β€’ Detail oriented, and able to multi-task under the pressure of deadlines. β€’ Able to conduct technical communications in English with internal and external parties, both written and verbal. β€’ A passion for construction. β€’ Effective time management and organizational skills. β€’ Proven ability to work independently and within a team environment. β€’ Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
